Do any of you out there remember the old comicbook racks that were in the mom and pop grocery stores, the old drug stores, and the news stands? One had to hunt through the books to find their favorite titles. The thrill of finding the new issue, or finding a book you didn't know had come out.

The comicbook rack was also a meeting place, (to the concern of the store owner). A place to see new work and share opinions about who was the best artist or who was the strongest superhero. To debate which artist drew the prettiest girls and the ugliest villains. In short, a place to connect to the creativity inside all of us.

This site is an attempt to recreate that feel, that excitement, that moment of discovery when you find a story, or you find an artist, or you find a part of yourself.

We have been searching the web for creators that are telling stories on the Internet. The work is of varying quality, but every creator has to start somewhere. One of the greatest thrills is to watch an artist, or a writer, find their voice, their vision and develop words and pictures that stay with us all our lives. With that in mind, we are choosing, not only the work that we think has merit, but any site created by one who's taking the time and the artistic risk to put their work out there.

With the number of online comics steadily increasing, we feel that by illustrating our directory with art from that site, it will be easier for you to find what you're looking for, and perhaps take a look at a site you wouldn't normally go to.

As the online comics sites become more established, and create more stories, we will be changing and updating covers. Like the comicbook rack, as things on the Internet heat up, things will be changing rapidly. New books may show up on pages that you think you've seen all there is to see. We've created a nifty navigator at the top of the page so you can move about the site, or "spin the rack", easily.

We are in the midst of developing a chat room, or bulletin board, so that our "comicbook rack" can once again become a meeting place. One without the store owner sweating, and not limited to your friends in town. Comicbooks have always been about creativity of both the creators and the readers. We hope that you, our visitor, will make yourself at home.
